2015 Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in British Columbia Wines

The winners of the 2015 Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in British Columbia Wines were announced. Enrico Winery’s 2014 Tempest Ortega was on this prestigious list. Our Ortega was chosen out of 425 wines as one of the top fourteen wines from BC by a panel of wine industry professionals through a blind judging process. We are absolutely honored to be recognized and hold the other thirteen winners in such high esteem and offer them our sincere congratulations.

This distinction is even more rewarding as it is the first time a winery from Vancouver Island has won! The Cowichan Valley is a beautiful place and is just starting to be recognized throughout the province as a location where grapes can be grown and serious wine can be produced. This award will catapult the Vancouver Island wine industry into the spotlight and raise awareness of the Cowichan Valley’s many great wineries!

We would like to acknowledge our winemaker Daniel Cosman along with all of the dedicated Enrico Winery staff who contributed to this success.  We would like to thank everyone involved in the Cowichan Valley and Vancouver Island wine industry and all of our loyal customers for their support and congratulations.

  1. If you can get a bottle of this buy it. There is a reason this won out of over 400 entrants….it is a great Ortega and very different from even their own 2015.

won’t age long, but great for drinking now and a few more years. In short supply but worth looking for the 2014. Great wine from a great boutique winery. I am looking for bigger and better things from them every year!
